International Education Week 2009
International Education Week is a week filled with academic and cultural events that highlight the importance of having a globally-focused education. The week is designated nationally by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. For more information about the events listed below, contact Beth Lorenz.

Red Cross Presentation: International Humanitarian Law/ The Geneva Conventions...."All is not Fair in Love and War" (program info) |
This presentation provides a basic introduction to International Humanitarian Law, the body of rules and principles that seeks to limit the conduct of war and protect the victims of armed conflict, more commonly referred to as the Geneva Conventions. It will explain the legal protections for people, combatant's civilians impacted by war, and the work of the Red Cross on behalf of those groups of people. |

Watch and discuss this feature film about the situation of Muslims and, more specifically Pakistanis, following 9/11. This film examines the impact of 9/11 and the drift created between the Western World and Muslims as well as between Muslims. |

During WWII, in a Catholic boarding school in France, two boys become friends. One is Catholic and the other is a young Jew, who is being hidden from the Nazis by the friars who run the school. This critically-acclaimed movie by Louis Malle is inspired by the director’s personal experience during the war.
